Daily Duties at Curtis M. Anderson Consulting:

As CEO of my own company, handle all of the accounting, marketing and delivery of services to my clients. Accounting includes tax filing and using Quickbooks to track all revenue and expenses. Marketing includes networking at Chambers of Commerce, BNI, Rotary, Law Fraternity, banking seminars, and other meetings, selecting marketing channels to promote the company, making phone calls to and meeting with potential clients. As a Strategic Advisor and Business Coach I work with associations and companies to identify their vision, mission, strategic goals and objectives, annual and quarterly milestones, and tactics to advance their organization. I use a combination of tools tailored to the organization's specific needs include a strategic planning workbook, the one page strategic plan format, DISC assessment tool (to assess team members' behavioral differences to help people better understand themselves and adapt their behaviors with others within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships - to improve work productivity, teamwork and communication), and my own expertise to help create a strategic plan for and improve teamwork within each organization. I also use my expertise as a lawyer, former federal employee with legislative and regulatory experience, and understanding of the industry to help telecommunications organizations (company and association) to educate the client about federal telecommunications programs (including the regulatory and legislative framework) and appropriations issues, including research, writing, meeting with key personnel, and providing a live and videotaped seminar about the program.

Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
