Daily Duties at Zeachem:
Led and completed capital project for the creation and installation of the microbiology and fermentation pilot plant and R&D facilities. Directed the fermentation process development and enzymatic conversion efforts. Established the team and the R&D facilities, including hiring junior staff and acquiring equipment. Created microbiology facilities for anaerobic and thermophile bacterial fermentation. Provided technical leadership in bioprocessing & microbiology. Conducted studies on strain selection to develop bacterial cell lines and developed optimal media for production at lab scale. Developed seed banks. Optimize fermentation process to achieve high product titres. Led the fermentation process scale up from lab to pilot level. Coordinated research efforts with the chemical and extraction process development teams to develop and scale up Zeachem’s ethanol process. • Developed processes for pretreatment and enzymatic cellulosic conversion of forestry products for biofuel production. Coordinated enzyme work with two main enzyme producers.
