Daily Duties at Gkn Driveline:
Key Member of the "Torque Group" Leadership Team with responsibility for Continuous Improvement (LEAN) at the Newton plant where I had two direct reports (Site Continuous Improvement Leaders). I was also responsible for the Lean Activities in our plant in Bowling Greene Ohio where I had 1 matrix report (Site Continuous Improvement Leader). The Torque Group consisted of two adjacent plants in Newton NC. and one plant in Bowling Greene Ohio. Worked Closely with the Plant Managers at each site on Lean Activities. I was the first Newton Associate, trained by GKN, in Continuous Improvement Leadership, so it was my responsibility to sell, plan, and implement all new Lean Activities. I was also responsible to recommend management associates for Lean Training that was conducted by our Corporate Lean Trainers. This was a comprehensive program that took a year to complete with roughly 6 weeks of classroom training and many hours of successful project work prior to graduation. 1. Guide, Lead and Train the Site Steering Committee to insure that we develop plans to continuously improve and implement Lean principles within the guidelines of the Corporate Lean Strategic Plan. 2. Develop Lean Strategy, Value Stream Deployment strategy, and Employee Involvement strategy, communicate the strategy to the plant, execute and measure progress. This required a Culture Change was included in the Lean Strategy.
