Daily Duties at Raytheon Washington Study Group:

As a senior systems engineer on contact supporting Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)’s Senior Leader Command, Control, and Communication System (SLC3S), Engineering Branch, function as a Communications Engineer with experience and expertise in Department of Defense (DOD) and related US Government Communications Networks. Support the National Military Command System (NMCS) engineering test and evaluation (ET&E) process in providing the full spectrum of ET&E for NMCS fixed, ground mobile, and airborne elements. The ET&E activities include development of test/assessment plans, and assisting in the engineering, design, and development process; assessment of operational effectiveness and suitability of NMCS and other US Government communications systems; supporting the transition process for new or developing systems; identifying shortfalls and needed modifications; and supporting changes to meet readiness and performance goals. Travel to US Government locations to obtain reference data is required. Work is in a professional environment in the Washington, D.C., area with continuing interface with Government personnel (civilian and military), Government contractors, and other vendors. Attendance at Government technical reviews is required. Ability to understand communications networks at a systems level, subsystem level, component, and circuit path level. I have the ability to troubleshoot communications systems, subsystems, components, and circuit paths. Additionally, I have supported design and development of new communications systems or reconfiguration of existing communications systems to support new requirements. I have experience in various RF spectrums; HF, VHF, UHF, SHF and EHF. I have knowledge and under-standing of communications security (COMSEC) processes and cryptographic devices for nearly thirty two years. I currently work with several devices such as: STE, TACLANE, OMNI and SECTERA. Ability to document communications configurations and prepare technical briefings is required. I have experience in configuration, diagnostics and analysis of multipoint secure video teleconferencing systems. I have conducted technical network performance assessments and knowledge with a strong understanding of application monitoring software tools or voice quality assessment software. Additionally, I utilize AGI’s Satellite Tool Kit (STK) to create pre-mission scenarios, post mission and engineering study simulations.
