Daily Duties at Mercury Insurance Group:
I was the contact person for the Claims Department for Sarbanes Oxley Compliance and regularly communicated with Internal Audit; Corporate Audit; CFO and the company's outside audit firm. my responsibilities also include testing all ten established SOX controls as required which could be monthly; semi annually or annually depending on the requirement. Any testing failures required the implementation of remedial measures if necessary and the follow up testing 30 days after the implementation of those remedial measures. I was also responsible for conducting the SOX annual walkthrough with the outside audit firm so that the existence of the controls could be validated. I was also responsible for assisting the outside audit firm for their annual Financial Audit which included obtaining approximately 2,500 claims files and answering their questions. The controls involved reserve practices; payment practices; file review and file review process.
