Daily Duties at Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical:
• Environmental Research & Development Test Lab - Supervised and managed employees for the following tests: vibration, random and sine, temperature, humidity, altitude, mechanical shock, centrifuge, salt fog and EMI. • Designed GPS system, ground support power equipment, & test simulator for prototype model 410 UAV for submission to the UAV Joint Projects Office in response to a RFP for a Tier II system. • Performed Research and Development on the following UAV’s; Model 124/BQM34 Firebee, 147 Lightning Bug, Model 324 Scarab, BQM-145A Model 350. • Executing over 750 tests a year including a specimen for space in which we had to create heat in a vacuum by using radiant heat from lights. • Engineered and designed control system for climatic chambers. Wrote test and equipment procedures, and test reports for customers, including U.S. Military Format Test Reports. • Worked on the prototype Tier II Plus Global Hawk, a high altitude, long endurance, unmanned air vehicle. Largest and longest flight time at 116 foot wing span and over 36 hour flight time (drone currently operating worldwide).
