Daily Duties at Purdue University:

 Directly supervised fund accounting staff which included: Endowment Accountant, Gift Funds Accountant, Plant Funds Accountant, and Unrestricted/Restricted Funds Accountant.  Responsible for hiring and termination decisions for support staff and recommendations for administrative staff.  Manage the annual audit for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (radio station WBAA).  Work closely with State Board of Accounts auditors who perform the audit of the University, Plante Moran auditing firm who perform the audit of the WBAA Radio Station, and the University internal auditors.  Provide information and assistance to external and internal auditors for assigned funds.  Responsible for various high level management reports.  Manage reconciliations of the University bank accounts and revolving funds.  Review and analyze endowment agreements for proper recording.  Oversee the proper recording of permanent and participating units for each endowment, the calculation of monthly market value of the endowment pool, and the calculation of semi-annual investment income available for distribution to each endowment and supported account(s).  Manage the recording of all investments and related income to assure recognition is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and University policies.  Oversee monthly reconciliation of the Cash Management Investment Pool (CMIP) to the general ledger.  Analyze requests for establishment of Temporary Investment Funds in accordance with University policy and make recommendations to the Comptroller as appropriate.  Review trustee statements of trust and bequests to assure their management is in conformity with trust and estate restrictions.
