Daily Duties at Oklahoma Department Of Corrections Probation And Parole Division:
As an Oklahoma State Probation and Parole Officer, I served as a commissioned state law enforcement officer authorized to conduct lawful searches and arrests. I completed an 8-week law enforcement pre-service academy with academic honors. I supervised a case load of approximately 100 convicted felons, who were assigned to me under the jurisdiction of my department. These offenders were either on probation, parole, house arrest, or some other form of supervised release under the jurisdiction of my department. My duties included interviewing subjects, witnesses, and victims of crimes, taking written and verbal statements, writing reports of investigation, transporting prisoners, preparing affidavits for search warrants and arrest warrants, executing lawful searches and arrests, and testifying for the state at trials and other administrative proceedings. I collected and maintained chain of custody of physical evidence, which was analyzed by agency laboratories and other law enforcement agencies. I wrote reports of investigation relating to subjects who violated laws or the terms of their supervised release. My investigative reports were used in support of administrative probation/parole revocation hearings and criminal prosecutions, when subjects under my supervision committed new crimes or violated their rules of supervised release. I also conducted pre-sentence investigations of defendants, in which my reports were used by state district court judges and prosecutors during the sentencing phase of trials. I trained and carried concealed agency-issued firearms and intermediate weapons, in accordance with prescribed laws, regulations, and policies. I continually trained in the use of force and defensive tactics.
What they like about Oklahoma Department Of Corrections Probation And Parole Division:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
