Daily Duties at Department Of Homeland Security:
Coordinated DHS Component financial data submissions to support monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting requirements DHS wide. DHS Components include: DHS Headquarters, Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, Transportation Security Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Federal Emergency Management Agency. Provided Team leadership including coaching of new team members; established schedules; assigned tasks; assisted in development and training goals; provided mid-year and annual ratings. Prioritized component needs to mobilize my staff and other Headquarters organizations to address audit issues impacting the DHS financial statements; required in-depth knowledge of Component operational challenges and a varied background in systems development and maintenance, federal accounting and audit standards, project management, business process redesign, and training. Supported DHS in receiving its first unqualified audit opinion in 2013; Opinion was repeated in 2014 and 2015. Supported DHS in eliminating their significant deficiency in financial reporting in 2014.
