Daily Duties at Los Alamos National Laboratory (Lanl):
INDUSTRIAL SAFETY Construction, Maintenance and Manufacturing Enforced DOE and LANL aviation, construction, explosives, industrial, and maintenance safety compliance on a daily basis. Accomplished risk assessment for nuclear, explosive, and other hazardous materials in industrial operations. Conducted daily federal, state, DOE, LANL, and contractor regulatory field visits and inspections for compliance and enforcement in the industrial plant. Analyzed work routines, eliminating unsafe practices and hazardous situations. Daily conducted natural, cultural, and biological resource reviews, ensuring EPA compliance. Served as a member of an accident response team. Developed and recommended safety policy to top management. Developed and published site safety plans, safe operating procedures, safety standards, lesson plans and newsletters. Trained personnel in safety objectives. Evaluated work conditions for Personal Protective Equipment needs. Maintained confined space entry program for ESA–FM (Engineering Sciences & Applications Division Facilities Management). Conducted accident prevention and over 300 accident investigations. Maintained OSHA Log, accident statistical analysis and US Labor Department reporting. Maintained employee return-to-work, ergonomics, hazard communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, blood-borne pathogens, and lockout/tagout programs. Created shipping documents and shipped hazardous materials, including explosives and nuclear weapons.
