Daily Duties at Baruch College/Cuny:

Oversee the safety and operations of Buildings & Grounds, In charge of a unionize workforce (DC 37) of eighty 86, 76 Custodial Assistants Local 1597, 3 Senior Supervisors, six Supervisors, 1-Principal Custodial Supervisor Local 1697. Deputy Chief Administrative Superintendent for the Trades Department consisting of thirty-four (24) unionized workers Maintenance, Electricians, Plumbers, HVAC, Painters, etc., Sustainability Task Force operations and trainer. • Run day-to-day operation responsible for the cleaning operations of 1.6 million square feet including in Campus Facilities & Operations: ensuring the proper maintenance and improvements of the grounds. • Direct administration of divisional assignments and supervision of staff, to make certain of the safety and effectiveness in operations, generating detailed assignments for conformance of restructuring and reforming the Custodial Department cutting operational cost by 30% while still successfully maintaining effective service • Conduct training sessions on a weekly basis with Senior Supervisors/Supervisor, and custodial staff, in which improved overall performance creating intrinsic work values for the custodial operations and job standards for a unionized staff of 85 employees. o Training presented in both English and Spanish to ensure proper standards are being applied and met. The end results of an efficient running Department restructured with less personnel of 76 Custodial Assistants but maintaining high quality of service and over $800,000 dollar savings • Develop leadership skills training; on time management; communication and organizational skills; equipment maintenance; inventory reports/supply requests; preparing employee evaluation; proper labeling of hazardous chemicals and removal; handling stress and confrontation on the job. o A “How to” series was conducted on: Processing information, Cultural diversity training, Motivate, Listen, Be a self-starter, Transmit, To Plan, Make meetings work, Set standards, Inspect projects, Delegate, Maintain good performance levels, Reward, Discipline, Counsel, Supervise and How to ask questions. o Conducted an intense six-month training course for all Unionize Supervisors and several custodial assistants to build and stimulate first-class intrinsic work values of ownership towards the College and effectively run an efficient department. • Generated on excel budget reports, vacation reports and annual leave schedules, weekly status reports, attendance reports; inventory reports with functions and formulas in excel, job assignments, master plan of staffing, hiring, & training of 52 custodial staff with supervisors for the Vertical Campus and cross training 80 custodial assistants, radio dispatching, master keys for protection of college property. • Trained all 123 B & G staff (Plumbers, Electricians, Maintenance, Painters etc.,) Campus Facilities & Operations staff on OSHA Communications CFR 1910.1200 to meet EPA guidelines • Received recognition on the Presidents Newsletter February 2008, 2010, 2012, of the improvements of the Department and sustainability
