Daily Duties at Health Education Council:
Provide health education and outreach services to communities in Valley High area and greater Sacramento area. Involve with teaching and presenting various programs and classes on Healthy Eating and Active Living to cut down preventable causes of disease and death and to promote healthier lifestyles in communities. Organized, coordinated and delivered Healthy cooking classes and ReThink Your drink programs to schools, apartment complexes and in the neighboring parks. Currently participate with the walk with Friends and Families in the Mesa Grande and Valley High parks in South Sacramento area. Manage community outreach and engagement for healthy living initiatives targeted to underserved communities; Work with a team to identify community needs, enlist stakeholder support, and develop appropriate messages, materials and activities to meet program goals. • As a Volunteer for HEAL Zone, a Kaiser Permanente program, coordinate, organize and deliver community outreach services to Valley High Community in South Sacramento. Deliver health related presentations to groups of 10-50 people, educating community members and school children about healthy eating and active living. Demonstrate healthy cooking activities. • Coordinate, organize and deliver presentations for the Re Think Your Drink campaign, a program of the California Department of Public Health. • Helped with assessment and evaluation of the HEAL Zone program through UC Berkeley. Responsible for organizing, coordinating and collecting data from 530 residents for the research. • Mentor and guide new team members by providing orientation and training on program services and tools. • Foster and maintain collaborations with other community partners and stakeholders. • Monitor and evaluate the program progress and report these to the Program Coordinator on regular basis.
