Daily Duties at Cook County Sheriff's Bureau Of Information Technology:
Analyze current processes and procedures to determine opportunities for improvement in the context of Project Management. Implement a best practices framework to create visibility, predictability, and repeatability in an effort to improve delivery capability. Hiring and ongoing development of Project Managers, currently at 5 and growing. Development of a project portfolio and scoring criterion to determine ongoing strategic alignment and prioritization for projects. Develop and support a communication platform to provide executive leadership a means to not only view progress but to continually help sync portfolio with corporate strategy. Develop a standard KPI to quickly convey project status. Engage other areas in BoIT to help shape process and methodology implementation/improvement for an overall improvement in project delivery. Help drive the adoption of new methodologies (eg. Agile) by helping coach and mentor colleagues and staff. Develop and foster healthy relationships with executives in finance and business as well as throughout the organization to build trust and engagement throughout the Project Management Lifecycle. Help shape the overall direction of the BoIT and look for opportunities for process improvement throughout the organization. Manage vendor relationships and develop a means to help shape business cases to quantitatively drive decision of buy/build, build/outsource. Maintain a good understanding of not only PMI best practices but also technology best practices, and financial life cycles including procurement and the supply chain management process.
