Daily Duties at Northwest Louisiana Developmental Center:

I reviewed and approved all Life Plans written by the Program Managers. I ensured they monitored the plans monthly and completed a monthly report, revising the plan if no progress was being made. Attended incident review meeting each morning to ascertain what intervention was indicated, if any. Was an investigator when an allegation of abuse arose. Compiled the investigation after completion and made a recommendation as to whether I felt abuse or neglect occurred. The report then when to the Human Rights Committee the Administrator and was then sent to Baton Rouge. As Assistant Administrator, I was over the section of the facility that housed the more critically ill. I had approximately 95 residents, all mostly bed-ridden. CNAs would get them up in their wheelchairs for a portion of the day, but most could not tolerate a lengthy time. I was a member of the Behavior Management Committee, reviewing behavior programs and their progress or lack thereof. I was also a member of the Psychotropic Medication Committee, which met with the Psychiatrist and reviewed all residents that were taking psychotropic medication, reviewed their behavior and ascertained whether a reduction could be implemented. Reviewed and approved all payroll for my division. Made recommendations regarding hiring, disciplinary action, and terminations to the Human Resource Department, who made the final decision since this facility was civil service and state regulations had to be followed. Worked closely with the physicians regarding the resident's health issues. Met with families, although not often, most were not involved. Supervised the main Switchboard and Transportation Department and its' schedule.

What they like about Northwest Louisiana Developmental Center:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
