Daily Duties at The Bradford Guest Care Center:

My first responsibility was answering the 50-page 2567 that soon arrived with the 22 deficiencies. I developed a plan of correction for each deficiency, meeting with department heads, to ascertain the system they were utilizing in their department and formulate the plan that would function best in their department. I developed monitoring forms for each plan of correction to ascertain its effectiveness. The home had issues as evidenced by the 2567. However, when the State returned for their follow up, ALL deficiencies were cleared and the facility was deemed in compliance. I had to observe and see if each department head was doing an adequate job and if they were salvageable. Some were very receptive to learning and constructive criticism. I also had to build an atmosphere of excitement with the staff of wanting to be better. As with any place of employment, some were very receptive and some were not. Therefore, when I filled positions, I did so with strong experienced individuals that wanted to be part of a team. The team that developed was one I was proud. We managed to improve the home to the point the owners decided to build on a new wing with 35 new rooms for our Part A Medicare Rehabilitation residents. It also had its' own entrance, allowing us to serve outpatient patients, as well. This increased the beds to 146 bed facility. We provided excellent care and usually had a 1-3% wound rate, We received 1-2 minor deficiencies on our annual surveys and rarely had a complaint survey. Met every morning with department leaders to ascertain census, by reviewing residents admissions, discharges, deaths, hospital discharges, etc. These numbers affected each department in some way. Ensured that maintenance and housekeeping had rooms ready for admissions that day. Welcomed new admissions and went to Social Services to meet the family, while completing the paperwork. Observed breakfast and served coffee prior to breakfast for residents already in the dining room. Sent/answered email that required addressing before the busy part of the day began. Met with family members that requested to discuss care issues, possible hospice, change in condition of family member, etc. Worked with vendors such as fire company on the fire panel, if not operating properly, or fire extinguishers were due for inspection. Completed accounts payable through computer program that required my approval for each expenditure. Reviewed Statement of Operations when the accountants closed the books for the previous month. Met with Department Leaders to inform them where they were on their budgets year to date. The last full year that the books have been closed that I was the Administrator, my budget was 10 million. At the end of the year, I came in at 6 million. Reviewed and approved payroll for all employees, noting overtime for each department and addressing with department leaders cause of overtime. I also maintained the OSHA 300 log, following the employee's injury until returning to full duty. I completed all unemployment hearings, FMLA use, and ensuring all company policies were followed. I approved all new hires, disciplinary actions, terminations and reviewing of all criminal background checks
