Daily Duties at Western Geco (Div. Of Schlumberger):
Led accounting and cost containment efforts in the field on a very large land acquisition program that had been grossly mis-bid by previous management. Implemented the use of a daily cost sheet allowing daily updates on spending levels that could be used to gauge actual versus targeted spending levels that were used to provide guidance at month end and for planning purposes. Opened a new Bolivian office at the start of a $24MM program to be executed in the Andean thrust belt of southern Bolivia, hiring and training all accounting, procurement, logistics and HR staff. Imported $17MM of capital equipment for use on the program and negotiated a $6MM capital loan that served as stopgap funding and allowed vendors to be paid uninterrupted. Responsible for the integrity of the Income Statement and Balance Sheet of this operation. Set up HR process that ensured the 600 employee crew was paid accurately and on time leading to zero costly work strikes. Hired 110 expatriates that served as the backbone to the successful execution of the program.
