Daily Duties at Narrative Technologies Inc.:

I was the sole IOS developer in charge of architecting, implementing and shipping the IOS client reader application Litho Reader for Narrative Technologies. I handled all aspects of designing, developing and shipping the Litho Reader to iTunes for downloading by users. 1) initially given a design specification by a third party UI design firm. I implemented the initial design based upon this design spec and enhanced it where needed. 2) designed class objects to handle all transactions with the servers. All calls were able to handle either JSON or XML requests and responses and HTTPS authentication was used to secure the calls to and from the server based upon the user session object. 3) designed a robust download session feature for downloading the publications from the lithomobilus bookstore. This feature was used for downloading thumbnail images for the publications and also for downloading the publication itself. 4) local data for the store catalog was stored locally using Sqlite. Sqlite was also utilized as part of the non-linear book navigation. 5) the book reading engine used EPUB3 formatted publications for delivering the work. we used an external manifest as allowed by EPUB3 to build the "model" of the publication locally on the Litho Reader. The book engine is based upon a custom Web view that operates much like a Cordova or PhoneGap application. I designed custom url protocols and JavaScript callbacks to handle specific features of the reading experience. 6) responsible for meeting all deadlines and scheduled product releases. Since I was the sole IOS developer, I was responsible for uploading the builds to ITunes for all product releases and test flight. In addition to the product releases, I was responsible for adding and maintaining the list of testers and the devices used in testing. I managed everything on the iTunes developer account for Narrative Technologies except for Financials and administrative details, and the wording on product releases for builds released to the ITunes store.

What they like about Narrative Technologies Inc.:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
