Daily Duties at Southern Company:

As the Environmental Projects Lead for Mechanical at a 770 MW supercritical coal-fired electric generating facility, I developed and implemented strategies for installation of mechanical systems, led bid package preparation and schedule development efforts. I managed contracts and budget for Heavy Haul, Jet Bubbling Reactor (JBR) shell winding, JBR internals, and Heavy Lift Plans. I drove coordination mechanical activities heavily with other Discipline Leads and Design Engineering. I led a team of coordinators in daily labor broker activities including Boilermaker and Pipefitter work, as well as daily oversight of lump-sum contract activities. I participated in the behavioral observation safety program to provide leading indicators for focusing our personnel safety efforts. I coordinated Lock Out-Tag Out activities for all mechanical activities which required interfacing with Owner's Operations department. This, along with start-up activities, required me to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with Owners in a Contractor role.
