Daily Duties at Sysco :

As a Night Warehouse Operations Supervisor I would manage anywhere between 20-60 employees a night depending on what department I was managing. Our shift shipped anywhere between 75k to 100k cases nightly. My responsibilities were managing the operation following up on employees to make sure they were meeting production, safety, and customer quality needs. Retraining employees on job methods if they did not meet their production goal for the week or their customer quality goal as far as errors and wrong cases shipped to the customer. I would also move employees from departments depending on how the work was balanced to limit overtime and finish in a timely fashion so the trucks departed and got to our customers on time. I was in charge of training the new hires and developing their skills to reach our production and quality needs as soon as possible. Held focus group meetings with my new hires and company employees daily. Created the layout of how the trucks were loaded for our employees. Assisted on a team for Food Safety to help keep our building current on sanitation requirements for our AIB Audits quarterly. I also ran a damage committee team to help reduce cost by determining root cause of our damages whether they were from the warehouse employees, drivers, or inbound damages.

What they like about Sysco :

Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
