Daily Duties at Kekinow Native Housing Society:
As a controller in Kekinow Native Housing Society, I am responsible for full cycle accounting activities using advanced knowledge in accounting principles and financial analysis, overseeing and smoothing the daily operation of accounting department, including monthly and annual budgets, repair & maintenance budget, administration budget, wages & benefits budgets, and capital expenditures budget, general accounting, billing, rent collection, payroll system, monthly and annual financial statements in order to satisfy both internal and statutory reporting. I also supervise and review accounting work and administration work done by the other staff. This experience taught me not only to know how to implement my accounting knowledge professionally, but also how to be a good leader as well as how to finish all my assignments on time. I am able to use my communication skills to communicate with various government agencies, such as CRA, WCB, FICOM, fund providers, such as BC Housing and Aboriginal Housing Management Agency, group insurance and pension plan providers, the banks and the union, etc. Prepared bi-weekly payroll, monthly payroll remittance, and annual payroll report to CRA. Prepared GST and other required regulatory remittances to various government agencies on time. Reported to the executive director and the board of directors.
