Daily Duties at Ge Healthcare:

Completed a three phase training program designed to prepare new college graduates for a position as radiology account manager with GE Healthcare, and provide leadership and team building tools. In Phase I(two months), I shadowed a field mentor who taught me the daily responsiblities of a radiology account manager, the basics of customer relationship building, and general industry knowledge. In Phase II(seven months), I took several training courses including account management, negotiation, strategic customer relationship building, sales strategy, and radiology product specific training classes. I was also placed on a marketing project to help roll out a new Sales Tool Library for the radiology sales team to access marketing materials, industry news, legislative updates, and sales tools. My role in this project was to interview sales reps on the most effective method of distributing needed marketing materials, to aid the marketing team in making the appropriate adjustments to ensure that the tool would be useful to the sales reps, and to drive adoption of the tool upon completion. In Phase III(six months), the original intent was to be placed in a miniature territory under the guidance of my field mentor to test my knowledge and allow me to practice my new found skills. However due to business need and manager recommendation, I was placed into a full territory to manage the needs of Kaiser Permanente Southern California's radiology needs while completing my third phase. These responsibilities included account management, identifying, building and closing sales opportunities, building customer relationships, improving customer satisfaction, driving closure to customer issues, and providing radiology expertise to my customers. I was so successful at this role that I was awarded the permanent position immediately upon graduation from program.

What they like about Ge Healthcare:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
