 Studied bacterial resistance to different physical and chemical stresses. Designed and performed investigation of gene expression of cells in viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state of V. vulnificus by employing RT – PCR.  Developed and improved staining techniques to determinate viability and culturability of bacterial cells.  Improved polymerase chain reaction for detection of Vibrio vulnificus from estuarine samples.  Designed multiplex polymerase chain reaction for detection of Vibrio species from estuarine samples, which included primers design, optimization and troubleshooting of PCR process  Created and led bacteriology class.  Evaluated students’ performance.  Provided out of class help to students having difficulties with course content  Performed studies on the bactericidal effect of UV light (LED sources) on survival of bacteria in water (Research founded by Dot Metrics Technologies Inc.).
