Daily Duties at Herff Jones, Inc:
Managed a 96,000 square foot manufacturing facility and two warehouses with an annual operational revenue of $45M. Performed hiring, firing, training and development of 135 employees across two shifts from salary supervisor and administrative staff, maintenance personnel, hourly skilled labor force to unskilled laborers. Collaborated with supervisory staff, HR Manager to create an attendance point system that we implemented into the annual evaluation process. Presided over standardized weekly plant stand up meetings to place continued awareness on essential topics including safety, quality, production, and recognition. Published a monthly safety newsletter that was distributed to three plants. Created, administered and tracked annual safety training/testing. Tracked, recorded, analyzed, and completed annual OSHA Log 300. Re-trained effective employees on safety procedures as required. Led cross-function safety team who performed deep drive study into each incident. Tracked and recorded all customer complaints or internal defects in Operator Efficiency System. If it was determined to be a vendor issue, I would initiate the contact and supplied the documentation to the appropriate supplier. Led subject matter experts in the analysis of each spoilage. I would re-write SOP's if determined that current instructions were not adequate and then train affected employees on new procedures. Created and implemented across three facilities an Operator Efficiency System that recorded daily production and produced on-demand detailed reporting. Highly involved in the day-to-day management of resources including personnel, maintenance, and work schedules. Performed monthly tracking of expenses to budget and presented quarterly forecasts. Prepared annual operational budgets and three year capital expenditure plan. Prepared analysis for the justification of four new presses and six new auxiliary pieces of equipment. Standardized operators work stations, prepared pre-cut materials and issued toolboxes with all essential tools required to perform the assigned task. Regularly visited suppliers place of business to seek out ways to improve our cost or process. Conducted tours for all visitors to our plant. Initiated preventative maintenance program.
