Daily Duties at Jacksonville Housing Authority:
I was hired to assist the CFO in his role of supervising 7 accountants and being in charge when the CFO out of the office, attending conferences, or vacationing. I also filled in and reported to the Board of Directors to provide monthly presentations to both the Board and it's subcommittee, the monthly Cost and Admin meeting when the CFO was not available. Daily duties were preparing information that ultimately resulted in internal financial statements presented to the Board. I annually crafted the organizations budget to be voted on and approved by the Board and also presented to HUD. I reviewed and signed off on all journal entries entered by the staff, also approving invoices for payment. Monitored and reviewed 6,000 1099's annually and processed including electronically transmitting the 1096 to the IRS. Prepared the annual property tax return for the mixed finance property we managed. Spear headed and compiled our annual budget, an ongoing 6 month process for a budget of 80 million dollars. Was liaison for the annual audit workpapers between our staff and the auditors. Worked with the CFO on the annual subsidy calculations with regard to HUD. Participated in the annual REAC filing to the Department of HUD. Compiled and monthly reported Section 8 Vouchers (VMS) to HUD.
What they like about Jacksonville Housing Authority:
Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
