Daily Duties at Sheedy Crane & Drayage:
Hired for project at Long Beach V. A. Med. Center Base Isolation Seismic Upgrade The 13-story concrete hospital remained fully operational during our complex installation of 164 seismic base isolators and sliders. Challenge was to figure out how to engage and jack up concrete columns, remove a section of column, install new earthquake force dampening base isolators, and transfer load from temporary support system back into column using a "flat jacks" with high pressure epoxy operation. Duties include: structural design of unique/original temporary support/load transfer systems to all existing load bearing walls or columns. Systems supporting 500 ton average service loads utilized friction gripping, direct support, and support using new construction. Managed all engineered systems at columns with differing loads, and managed all field activities including supervision of multiple union ironworker crews.
