Daily Duties at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team In Training:

• Team In Training Coaches are expected to follow the policies and procedures and to conduct themselves in a professional manner that upholds the integrity of the Team In Training program and LLS. Coaches are required to be CPR/First Aid certified. • A mandatory component of any training will be for you to be familiar with the marathon rules and to communicate those rules and the ethics of competing fairly and within the event rules to your team. • Develop weekly training schedules for participants of all levels; beginner, intermediate, advanced. • Create a full schedule for each area coaching (marathon, triathlon, cycling). Plan, coach and train participants in at least one to two training sessions per sport per week. • Create all training courses and secure all permits, as necessary. • Provide clear route maps to all participants and mark the course as necessary • Establish water stop locations, warm-up and cool down plans and deliver announcements prior to each training session. • Help ensure all participants are supported throughout each training and finish safely. • Provide for an emergency plan at all training sessions and communicate this plan to the staff, mentors and participants. • Recruit speakers for training clinics to be held in conjunction with team training or at team meetings, on such topics as; nutrition, injury prevention, shoe/equipment selection, strength training, sports psychology, etc. • Write brief articles for TNT newsletters and weekly communications with participants. • Be available during the week, by phone, LLS voicemail and e-mail, to answer training related questions from participants. • Attend the designated endurance event assisting staff, as necessary, during event(s) weekend and ensuring all team members finish the event safely and are accounted for at the end of the day. Coaches are prohibited from participating in the event other than to be on the course actively supporting the participants with the exception of Cycle events, a handful of marathons and Hike events where coaches will be assigned as needed to sweep the trail. • Support and help mentor participants with fundraising activities and goals. • Represent LLS and Team In Training at various event expos, community events, and recruiting and information sessions.
