My responsibilities at Chico’s, as VP Corporate Finance, consisted of 3 primary concerns: Finance Fundamentals…these things set the foundation for future business partnership and analytical excellence build speed, simplicity, visibility & credibility Develop best systems, structure, policies and processes Support strategy of building high performance brands for example…drive systems enhancements and efficiencies & drive reporting alignment amongst all brands including 4-wall reporting 2. Analytics \ Business Performance…analyze data to provide insights on opportunities and help focus company decisions & drive focus on the “right things” -support growth strategies as well as improving cost structure -for example…analyze opportunities to drive shared service savings in administrative costs as well as margins and inventory & drive high impact and or high visibility cost control projects 3. Business Strategy…drive business partnership and direction while providing creativity and strategic thinking & create a “face of finance” that provides leadership through transparency, visibility, strategic thinking and direction -for example…partner with brands to optimize customer engagement including loyalty programs, drive optimization of coupon frequency and depth (markdowns), and actively engage in brand long-range growth and strategic planning I oversaw the following departments\roles: -Disclosure Committee Chairperson, -Talent development-self, team, associate with weekly associate touch bases and quarterly team meetings to share goals & objectives -Overall Finance\Accounting Systems ownership -Controller functions of Boston Proper (an off sight brand located in Boca Raton, FL) -Corporate Accounting & External Reporting (General ledger maintenance & intercompany accounting, Yearly\Qtrly\Monthly Close management, Produced accurate and timely Financial statements, Performed Technical Accounting Research & Memos, Budgeting\Projections, Lease\Occupancy Accounting…desk top audit savings in excess of $1 million, Fixed Assets and Capital Accounting, SEC reporting & compliance, Balance sheet reviews & management...oversaw monthly balance sheet meetings with accounting managers to ensure all accounts were balanced and supported, Audit Committee\Investor Relations preparation of financial materials & analysis to support quarter end investor calls, Direct contact for External Audit firm (E&Y) to ensure transparency & collaboration), -Internal Controls (SOX) for the accounting & finance functions, -Accounts Payable (Managed payments in excess of $1 billion for both merchandise and expense invoices, Travel & expense management, Freight\Duty\Commission Analysis performed quarterly to ensure inventory loads were correctly valued and challenged, Lead Purchase order management project for merchandise to reduce PO errors\changes and drive speed from design to available for sale) -Customs (Ensured controls were in place for correct duty classifications, payment & reporting to Customs…quarterly meetings we're held with merchants to ensure they understood how to classify new merchandise. First sale process implemented with sourcing vendors saving in excess of $1 million) -Sales Audit & Cash Management (Tender balancing with banks, Sales balancing with tender & inventory...we created a new role to reconcile & balance internal systems between sales & inventory to ensure all transactions were recorded accurately & timely) -Inventory control & analysis (Unit & cost accuracy across all brands (systems & stores\Ecommerce & DCs), Monthly inventory reviews & variance analyses were shared with the CEO & CFO to explain inventory fluctuations over the prior year and prior quarter, Inventory projections were completed to support the P&L projections and cash flow requirements, oversight of semi annual physical inventory process) -Payroll -DC Finance (Provided oversight to the DC management team with budgeting, forecasting, DC metrics, payroll analysis, & inventory accuracy initiatives) -Loss Prevention department -1 VP, and 5 regional LP managers located throughout the US whose main focus was to coach, train, and build LP awareness\asset protection within our stores & Ecommerce teams as well as conduct criminal investigations-including both store and warehouse shrink monitoring with a Shrink Target Program & CCTV program & XBR analytics. -Enterprise Security & safety - this included stores 2 DCs & call center located in Winder, GA, a National Store support center located in Fort Myers, FL, and the Boston Proper campus located in Boca Raton, FL
