Daily Duties at Courion Corporation:
Direct all Information Technology operations for a 200+ person, $40 million privately-held (founder CEO) company developing software solutions that manage access risk. Employee base includes 100 individuals at Westborough headquarters, 75 individuals across offices in the UK and India, and a mobile sales and services workforce. Hired at a time of rapid growth (doubling of employee base), took company from non-standard, outdated infrastructure and implemented state of the art, redundant, enterprise systems that improved reliability and stability, comprised of: Security Infrastructure, Network Switching, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), VMWare ESX Server Blades and Unified Communication Systems. As the first senior-level IT hire for this company, requires both strategic and technical strength, working across departments to provide solutions that are cost effective and reliably meet corporate needs and objectives. Position formerly reported to the CFO (semi-retired) and now to Senior Vice President of Products and Technology. With a global staff of 6 (3 systems engineers, 3 system administrators), provide all IT solutions and support to employees in the US, UK and India, including the deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting of over 800 systems (virtual and physical) across all locations At the outset, conducted a comprehensive review of technology infrastructure, developed a prioritized gap analysis with proposed solutions and initiated RFP process with qualified vendors; compiled and presented findings to senior management to obtain buy-in for project prioritization, vendor selection and solution deployment In order to help fund insfrastructure improvements, re-negotiated contracts with existing preferred vendors to realize cost savings that could be applied elsewhere; on an ongoing basis, establish and manage all IT service vendor relationships, including proposal and contract negotiation Developed and deployed company’s first Technology Refresh Program to facilitate lifecycle management for all systems providing better insight to IT planning and forecasted cost; maintain and defend all IT budgeting/forecasting on an ongoing basis Oversee upgrade of Microsoft Dynamics GP business accounting software system for Finance Department and facilitate support with vendor Migrate home grown intranet portal to SharePoint providing improved functionality and better departmental collaboration As part of Salesforce.com steering committee, provided guidance for the transfer of in-house data to Salesforce thereby leveraging the cloud to provide anywhere, anytime access to client data for the sales, professional services and customer support teams Collaborate with Product Development to place Courion’s software suite into internal production before general release; provide critical feedback to the product teams for incorporation into future release Migrated standalone email server to fully clustered, multi-location email environment including load balancing while developing and introducing plans to move email infrastructure to a hosted solution Manage Unified Communications Systems globally including instant messaging, video conferencing and softphone capabilities Managed (remote and on-site) the identification, selection, build out and relocation to new office for employees in Pune, India including full project and infrastructure management for improved working environment and productivity Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including a revision of security policies to better reflect growing business needs Accountable for all monitoring, patch and change management to global infrastructure Produce management reports to communicate performance metrics for all systems managed by IT
