Daily Duties at Department Of Health & Human Services:
# 1: Advise staff and the public on legal matters and on the interpretation and application of agency policies, laws, and regulations; including review of personnel actions. #2: Assist Program and CPER staff with drafting rules; provide consultation, review, and interpretation of rules and laws to staff as requested. #3: Assist in planning, advising, and overseeing contract transactions including drafting, evaluating, and negotiating, Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Information (RFIs) grant documents and awards, and final contracts and reviewing contracts for compliance with state laws. #4: Assist the AG in preparing cases for trial and representing agency in trial including legal research, drafting discovery and responses, witness preparation, attending trials and hearings. #6: Provide review, consultation and representation of agency in contract protests, appeals, and disputes including breach of contract claims filed under chapter 2260 of the Government Code. #7: Represent the agency in administrative hearings including grievances, contract disputes, VR due process hearings, and unemployment compensation hearings; and advise agency personnel on legal and policy issues related to hearings.
