Daily Duties at Community Action:

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) provides a one time per year utility payment to individuals/families who have received notice of disconnection and are without the financial means to pay heating/cooling bills. Persons requesting assistance are required to present a formal notice of disconnection as well as proof of income to determine eligibility. HEAP clients can only utilize funds from this program one time per year. Seniors and persons with a medical prescriptions may also access Summer Cooling services. The Rittman Food Pantry supplies food and other nonperishable items to low-income individuals and families residing in Rittman and the surrounding area. Households are furnished with a three day food supply, quantity of food dependant on the number of individuals living in the home. Foodstuffs are distributed through CAW/M's Rittman Satellite Office. The Community Service Block Grant and local donations assist in providing funding for this program. For further information contact the CAW/M Wayne or Medina County Offices. The CAW/M Plant Program is a collaborative between CAW/M and a number of area green houses and nurseries in Wayne County. The program provides vegetable plants and flowers to low-income individuals and families. Nutritional information and gardening resources are also available. The CAW/M Plant Program operates for one week, the last week, in June. For further information and program dates call CAW/M 's Wayne County Office.
