Daily Duties at Vanderbilt Medical Center:

Provide operational leadership to all areas of patient access including: • Admitting (scheduled admission, same day surgery, outpatient surgical procedures, interventional radiology, cath lab, inpatient admissions) • Emergency Registration and Discharge. (All emergency room registrations, updates, insurance verifications, collection of patient co-pays and deductibles, registration review for clean claim submissions and accountability program) • Radiology (Frontline registration, scheduling of all modalities, file/reading room staff responsible for uploading CDs, etc.) • Access Center (Bed Management, environmental service dispatch, hospital to hospital transfers, MD referral emergency expects) • Decedent Affairs (Release of remains to Medical Examiner’s office, families, funeral homes, State reporting, cremation coordination) • Interpreter Services (Provide interpreting and translation services to all pediatric hospital and clinic patients including off sight locations. Coordination with Patient Education of all documents for translation to ensure appropriate reading level) • Manage an after-hours nurse telephone triage service to outside community physicians (Provide after hour triage service to outside pediatric practices utilizing the Barton Schmitt Protocol System on a contracted basis) • Patient Throughput Transitional Team to reduce inpatient holds in the emergency room • Coordination with Utilization Management to ensure patient status (inpatient, observation, etc.) is correct prior to billing • Data validation for state reporting (Race and Ethnicity, Patient Type, Patient Source, etc.) • Migration to Electronic Records (specific focus on consents, patient rights, POA, etc.) Maintain budgetary responsibilities for 7 cost centers. Create strategic planning for patient throughput operations to meet the ever-changing regulations. Oversee and provide clear operational policies, protocols, and accountability programs for staff. Work with Insurance Management and Utilization Management for claim processing and billing accuracy. Implementation and management of a Time of Service collection model for the hospitals Participate in many organizational committees across the institution.
