Daily Duties at Duke Energy:
Perform structural and foundation engineering design calculations for new commercial facilities and existing commercial facilities ensuring structures are not overloaded due to additional loads imposed. Manage and oversee Duke Energy response to NUREG 0612 (loads dropped from cranes at nuclear stations). Worked with electrical and mechanical engineers alonf with site contacts at each nuclear station (McGuire, Catawba, Oconee) to locate all cranes at nuclear stations, document crane capacity, identify all equipment under crane path, evaluate impact to operations if load dropped from crane onto equipment, evaluate all floors beneath crane path to determine floor capacity to prevent penetration if load dropped from crane.
