Daily Duties at National Weather Service:

Manage operational radar and upper air networks. Monitor field operations by regular contact with field sites and regional offices. Analyze weather data and operations data to ensure all sites are meeting requirements. Conduct periodic site inspections. Work with site technicians and regional engineers to solve operational and data quality problems. Manage vendor operations; inspect factories, review and approve test data, review and approve test procedures and production processes, write specifications, SOWs, and contract modifications, prepare delivery schedules, specify stock levels at sites and central warehouse, inspect government warehouse, inspect failed units. Specify, develop, test, and transition to operational status radar and upper air systems and equipment. Inspect facilities. Conduct PCAs and FCAs. Review and approve technical documentation. Write RFPs. Set up and conduct vendor conferences. Provide regular reports and conduct regular presentations to upper management. Supervise other technical staff. Respond to inquiries from upper management, congress, other agencies and outside organizations and individuals. Helped define basic requirements for new equipment.
