Daily Duties at Walgreens:

Responsible for managing Walgreens strategic sourcing and vendor management organization (for goods not for resale and professional services) related to information technology, professional services and consulting, pharmacy medical equipment and supplies, Take Care clinics, travel, office supplies, training and marketing. In charge of approximately $5B of annual spend. • Re-organized and rebuilt Walgreens Strategic Sourcing Department for indirect goods and services (GNFR). • Provided cross-functional team leadership and implemented hybrid sourcing and vendor management service delivery models. • Created and enhanced processes and policies which promote operational efficiencies and project prioritizations. • Accountable for leading overall savings for the strategic sourcing department for two consecutive years. o Lead teams to contribute to the achievement of $184M in total department cost savings in 2012 and $297M in 2013 by implementing global and enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives. • Effectively led sourcing teams to build strategies which leverage opportunities that maximize cost savings and synergies between Walgreens and WBAD (Walgreens Alliance Boots Division, located in Bern, Switzerland). At the same time, balance and ensure the continuous supply of products, services and internal business support for Walgreens business units. o Delivered Alliance Boots Synergy savings of $12.2M in 2012 which was 69% of the departmental attainment of $17.8M. o Delivered Alliance Boots Synergy savings of $21.42M in 2013 which was 40% of the departmental attainment of $53.8M. • Escalation point for complex hardware, software, professional services and pharmacy medical negotiations and contract disputes. • Responsible for vendor management and overall operations for IT, Professional Services and RX medical suppliers. • Championed the use of global sourcing of merchandise though the use of eAuctions and created strategies that leverage cost efficiencies for goods and services globally.
