Daily Duties at Cardinal Health:

I was responsible for over 700 daily deliveries of pharmaceutical product in the Upper Midwest geographic area. This included all of Minnesota, North and South Dakota, the upper two thirds of Wisconsin, the upper one third of Iowa and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. These responsibilities included making sure all deliveries were made within an assigned 1 hour delivery window to hospitals, clinics, dental offices, pharmacies (independent as well as retail) and government agencies such as prisons and health offices. I am proud to state that despite the constant issues with weather in our region, we made 98% of these deliveries on time and our distribution center consistently was in the top 3 nationally in our company for on time delivery. I was also responsible for the security of the product that was being delivered. This required me to regularly travel within my region to conduct spot inspections and audits of our couriers. During my tenure as Transportation Manager we never had a theft or lost product. I was in constant communication with my hired couriers and they consistently were in the upper echelon of our national couriers in regards to metrics. I maintained a great working relationship with my couriers and was responsible for negotiating new contracts. I was annually tasked to reduce our transportation costs and maintain a very lean budget despite the rising costs of fuel prior to the last year. During my tenure I was able to find cost reductions of over $200K over the last 3 years. This included a negotiated rate reduction with one of my couriers, which was unheard of in the industry. For the second year in a row I was honored as the top Transportation Manager in our central region which included 8 other distribution centers. This honor was based upon overall metrics such as on time departure of freight, on time delivery of goods and managing budget constraints to name a few. On top of the actual delivery portion of my job I was responsible for aiding in the operational side of our distribution warehouse by helping with lean initiatives including running Kaizen events (used for process improvement), creating leader standard work for all leads and above and participating in overall management meetings involving operations. I also was the onsite coordinator for our internal security. This included yearly training of all employees, monitoring internal/external camera and security systems as well as facilitating our badge access system.

What they like about Cardinal Health:

You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
