Daily Duties at Sedgwick Claims Management Services:
• Led a team of senior claims examiners to analyze General Motors disability and workers compensation claims for both hourly and salaried employees in five states. Also functioned in a claims examiner lll role as a telecommuter after spouses relocation to Roanoke Virginia. • Recognized for meeting quality standards in numerous audit areas and thereby successfully balanced the often conflicting goals of client expectations, local regulations and industry best practices • Worked closely with the corporate legal team to document contested claims, preserve client assets and to maintain program integrity. This enabled the legal team to successfully thwart baseless and/or deceitful lawsuits. • Coordinated high level communications between defense counsel and client representatives as necessary. • Trained and developed my team colleagues (Claims Examiners & RNs) on a regular basis, utilizing my extensive knowledge of the field and its medical and legal aspects. • Managed the daily human resources responsibilities of my staff such as hiring, compensation and performance management.
