Daily Duties at Us Government:

• Oversee the scientific and fiscal management of an $11M annual research budget dedicated to characterizing properties, behavior, environmental hazards and medical countermeasures development. Data is used to advise US policy makers on environmental implementation procedures • Lead scientist on integrated team, supporting test and evaluation for field operations • Provide project management and technical direction for the environmental hazard assessment portfolio • Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) for environmental risk assessment and drug discovery projects • Prioritize research required to mitigate effects from chemical and biological hazards • Formulate policies and objectives for conducting research to understand persistence and behavior of chemical and biological hazards in the environment • Prepare technical reports that aide in policy, regulation, and legislation; management of portfolio, topic, and project selection based on strategy, prioritization, and program impact • Manage interdisciplinary research programs to mitigate environmental and health hazards • Initiated program in aerosol science to determine the risks associated from resuspension and persistence of particulate threats. • Highlights from scientific program include o Environmentally safe alternatives to allow testing of defense equipment in real world conditions o New therapeutics for protection against chemical hazards o Novel devices to understand particulate fate in the environment o Restructuring of environmental risk assessment program
