Daily Duties at Caci:

Manages, administers and implements IT networks for Afghan Counter-narcotics Police (CNPA) and CENTCOM Camp Heath networks. - many CNPA subordinate units lacked access to the Internet. To resolve this access issue, I researched and prepared a detailed report for the Deputy Minister (DM) of Counter-Narcotics detailing the current status of IT capabilities for provincial CNPA units and, - what provincial IT assets are available - IT requirements for provincial subordinate CNPA units - recommendations to the DM on how these units can gain access to provincial Internet assets at little or no financial cost to his organization - create and maintains network and device documentation and diagrams. - designs, and implements network changes and expansions by adding and removing network segments, running and replacing network cable, emplacing conduit for network cables in buildings and underground. - researched network expansion requirements and accurately prepared and documentation that resulted in extending the IT network to 5 subordinate departments that lacked network access - managed and oversaw network inside and outside plant installation for the 5 departments mentioned above - establish and manage system backups and backup schedules - along with subordinate 3 server and network technicians, provided helpdesk activities for over 250 users and over 350 devices (printers, computers etc.) - Installs and maintains Cisco switches and routers by; - using graphical interface and IOS command line to configure and troubleshoot network issues - manage, create and, monitor vlans, manage LAN and WAN routing and switching protocols - manage Cisco 5505 and 5550 ASAs - develops and advises CNPA Director General and Operations Center Commander on IT policies, procedures and network security by: - installing anti-virus packages (Vipre Enterprise and Symantec Endpoint) on servers and client computers - install, mange and maintain hardware and software firewalls (Cisco ASAs and Microsoft Threat Management Gateway), web-filters (TMG and Barracuda), and monitoring software (TMG, Barracuda and Solar Winds products) that restricts protocols, websites and user activity that wastes bandwidth resulting in loss of network availability for valid business uses and, protects data integrity and insuring data availability as required by authorized users. - mentored the Afghan CNPA communications officer, advising the officer on radio and IT issues such as: - mentored the officer on assessing requirements and preparing documents to justify and request IT network to expansion to areas of his organization lacking any network access - utilizing established internal procedures to train communications personnel and repair and replacement of radios when replacement is required - fielding new HF radios to units without radio communication devices
