Daily Duties at University Of Illinois :
• Developed a novel chemical approach to bioconjugate N-Cadherin to study the protein roles in (cell adhesion, trophic factor secretion, differentiation and signal transduction ) neural network formation and angiogenesis • Author of scientific literature that identify the role of N-Cadherin protein in mesenchymal stem cells and primary cortical neural cultures • Develop and improved the experimental protocols need it to identify the role of N-Cadherin protein in the stem cell differentiation, trophic factor secretion and adhesion • Engineered mammalian cells for protein expression • Experience culturing and maintaining several different cells lines (stem cells, primary neurons, fibroblast, pc12 and cancer cell lines) • In-vitro and in-vivo studies that involved the use of recombinant protein/antibodies used as markers and protein identification • Stem cells and primary tissue culture studies to assess and induce cell differentiation and proliferation with the protein or polymer of interest • Conducted in-vitro studies with mesenchymal stem cells and primary cortical neurons on synthesized and modified polymers which led to a publication in the Biomacromolecules Journal • Engineered gene and proteins of interest expressed in bacteria and/or mammalian • Collected and analyzed data from signal transduction and calcium studies to determine the viability and functionality of the cells in 2D/3D bioconstructs • Successful in-vivo angiogenic studies with chicken embryos implanted with encapsulated mesenchymal stem cells in collagen gels • Extensive statistical knowledge applied to experimental designed and validation of hypothesis • Manage multidisciplinary collaborations with teams of 5 and undergraduates thesis research • Trained undergraduate and graduate students in different molecular cell biology techniques • Developed a spreadsheet system for freezer and supplies inventory • Saved 40% on laboratory costs by negotiating with sales reps the supplies and equipment and need it • Grant proposal writing proficient, which led to the award of the Graduate Research Fellowship by National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship Program (IGERT-NSF) • Prepare monthly and annual reports for grant revision by NSF and IGERT NSF, as well as to the graduate program • Held monthly and annual meetings onsite/offsite, including the use of video conference calls to discussed lessons learned, program milestones and objectives with the graduate program coordinators and research collaborators
