Daily Duties at Chicago Public Schools:
As a Learning Behavior Specialist/ Literacy co-teacher, I demonstrate proficiency using the Understanding by Design framework to plan units and create stimulating lessons that align with Common Core Standards. Serving as a vehicle which allows me to provide scaffold instruction to students on using close reading strategies to read literary and informational text, using key details to determine the main idea and incorporating mentor text when developing purposeful writing. Meanwhile, I also employ evidence - based literacy interventions such as Fountas and Pinnell and multi-tiered supports that has resulted in academic gains and growth on NWEA assessments. Additionally, I facilitate an after school remedial program to improve literacy amongst at risk students, support the development of curriculum, and provide engaging, rigorous instruction to all students. You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
