Daily Duties at General Electric:

Interact with customers in daily meetings to discuss details regarding the locomotives in the shop, such as locomotives to be released, scheduling and pending issues. Through the customer supervisors assign the work to the hourly unionized employees. Create daily turnovers and discuss them at the daily supervisor's meeting. Troubleshoot hard to find problems mechanically and electrically. Determine if the locomotives needed additional work besides the normal maintenance. Manage a group of 42 unionized hourly employees working for the customer, including two supervisors. Provide technical support for the mechanics and electricians working the locomotives. Controlled the hours worked by the unionized hourly employees. Enforced the customer rules, discipline the employees not doing it. Promote safety at the meeting at the beginning of the shift. Walk the floor constantly to make sure the safety rules were being followed. Order parts needed for maintenance and repairs of locomotives.
