Daily Duties at Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation:

Monitor and supervise 30 contract Electrical Inspectors that are responsible for verifying NEC (National Electric Code) & NESC (National Electric Safety Code) code compliance Complete electric distribution construction field audits/reports to enforce the NEC and NESC regulations Responsible for maintaining and adding a Company-wide electric standard stock inventory Supervise Lineman and Commercial Representatives on an as-needed basis Work towards decreasing distribution outages Create new Electric Standards for electric distribution equipment, such as, pole line hardware, distribution reclosers, regulators, and switched capacitors Act as the “Go To” person through daily interaction with line personnel to resolve any operating issues Improve storm hardening operations for distribution circuits; gain management approval and begin implementation/ engineering through the installation of new steel, concrete and composite distribution poles Maintain the Electric Estimating Construction Manual and provide technical support to the workforce as needed Maintain the “Specifications and Requirements for Electrical Installations” manual and provide technical support to the workforce as needed Provide oversight and standardization of operating procedures for the Electric Standards Section Act as the troubleshooting expert, for distribution equipment failures and produce technical reports for findings and recommendations Supervise distribution line crews while working system-wide storm restoration efforts Interface between manufactures/vendors for approving and introducing new/existing technologies Provide technical engineering support for Purchasing and Storeroom Departments Publish design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial and industrial energy systems Perform in a leadership role to supervise and train Junior Engineers and College Interns Support the implementation of distribution automation equipment through the development of electric construction standards for new and existing installations of distribution reclosers, regulators, capacitor banks, distribution network systems, and SmartGrid medium-voltage switches
