Daily Duties at Merced County Community Action Agency:
Leadership and Management- Manage and operate all HR functions for the Agency of 140 employees. Maintain and align the goals of HR with the Agency’s objectives. Training – I train and develop courses as needed for the Agency. Maintain performance evaluations for all employees. Recruitment – I manage the recruitment for all open positions. I use internal and external resources to secure that all recruitment is maintained successfully. Prepare job descriptions; participate in panel interviews and selection process. Maintain legal compliance in employee personnel actions such as hires, promotions, demotions and terminations. Benefits – I administer employee benefits program; conduct enrollments. Oversee workers compensation program; correspond with insurance carriers, administer claims. I monitor and create wellness programs within the Agency. I oversee open enrollment for community to enroll in Covered CA. I act as the Project Manager for Covered CA site enrollment. Policies/Procedures – I coordinate and update as necessary the Agency’s Illness and Injury Prevention Program; Maintain, update and write personnel policies. Advise management and staff on personnel and safety issues. Administer employee leaves; assist employees with leave requests and integration of accrued leave with disability benefits. Monitor and manage all leave, including FMLA. Conduct investigations as necessary and recommend appropriate counseling to management. Employee /Labor Relations – I conduct Employee and Labor Relations’ meetings as needed. I attend EDD hearings, and other meetings as directed. I conduct meetings with Union representatives and Agency staff. I am the Chief Negotiator, representing the Agency during union negotiations. Reports - I update the Agency’s Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity reports. Currently sit on the Executive Board and update Board Members monthly of all HR reports.
