Daily Duties at Sc Johnson:

I have been the customer/client representative and lead project manager for the Training and Development program as well as for another software implementation program. For both major projects, I have followed the ADDIE process to research/evaluate, define, develop, and implement. For the software project I researched and brought in a software program used to make a global marketing business unit’s job responsibilities more efficient and saving the company both time and money. I worked with internal and external stakeholders to develop the program from beginning to end. The global marketing project was also a cross-functional and cross management role with both internal and external customers. I was involved in contract negotiations all the way through to training end users and becoming overall site system administrator and lead customer relation representative between the two companies. I have maintained this role for over 12 years. For the Training and Development program as project manager I have conducted the following - the first step taken was to define the global audience by conducting a survey to determine who all needed to be trained within the global regions. The next step was to identify what trainings needed to be conducted by “topic”. Next, the overall timeline of the program so the materials were determined and developed by the subject matter experts (SME’s). Part of this analysis also determined a skills gap analysis for the overall global team which comprised over 300 individuals globally. The individual roles and responsibilities as well as their capabilities for career advancement were also a part of this analysis. I identified a governance team to help determine what was needed, what was available immediately and what was needed to be developed and or purchased. I have written global procedures and protocols to help serve as best practices to make sure that any training materials developed followed the same basic formatting to drive consistency. A best practices tool was also developed that contains specific forms to help organize training from “cradle to grave” so that the system of workflow for development through implementation and evaluation is utilized to help grow and sustain the program. Currently the team I built meets routinely to define improvements discovered through continual improvement research conducted to keep building the program to make internal and external customers successful in building their capabilities’. As the team project leader, it is important for me to investigate other options as well to gather materials for use for key initiatives in each of the regions globally to make sure my internal customers are getting what they need to advance in their careers. I also work diligently with external customers to find solutions to issues before they happen based on feedback from internal customers. During implementation I have located materials that will help the departments make sure that facilitators and or trainers are prepared to conduct training – not all SME’s make good trainers - so it is important to make sure that this aspect is addressed and there are several people capable of doing the training. The overall program built has a four step process to make sure that materials are consistently presented and that the customers are able to have their needs met when they need it. Currently the organization is in the market for a new LMS system but as the project manager I have administration responsibilities here as a well. The system I am familiar with is that of SABA, SkillSoft , and Cornerstone – both of the latter two are still fairly new for me but I am a fast learner when it comes to technology. The evaluation of the processes using that of the ADDIE model – means any process is an on-going evaluation (from beginning forward) to make sure that the systems in place are working for the stakeholders and that we are meeting the requirements that have been defined up front. A RACI (Responsible - Do/Accountable - Develop/Consulting/Inform) document helps keep the role defines for function- ability as well as to keep growing the program as a whole. The learners are the actual folks that provide the value of the overall program, and it is a constant process to make sure that they are getting what they need to grow and add overall value to the greater group/company. As a customer relationship manager, it is critical to understand at all times where ones customer is coming from as well as understand their desire to grow and be sustainable. This is something I do routinely as a Global Quality Lead to make sure that Quality is number one and things are done as close to right the first time as possible. My motto is that I get paid to make my customers successful no matter if they are inside or outside of the company.

What they like about Sc Johnson:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
