Daily Duties at Wheaton Industries:

Lead Product Innovations Engineer 2002 – Aug. 2014 Managed multiple new product projects, focused mainly on pharmaceutical laboratory instrumentation from concept to product launch. Project budgets up to $500,000. Project management, equipment installation, and startup in an FDA and cGMP environment. Key activities included market opportunity research, preparing functional requirement specifications, development and management of budgets and timelines, contract negotiation and hiring of outside consultants and facilitating weekly project meetings. Technical writing included test plans, user’s manuals, SOPs, work instructions, IQ/OQ and FAT documents. Product deployment involved hardware and software design validation, training production, repair and customer service staff, and interfacing with product launch and advertising staff. Regulatory compliance duties included partnering with outside test labs for obtaining UL, and CE product certification. Supervised project team members. Single order sales of designed equipment often exceeded $4 Million. ISO 9001 lead internal auditor and Engineering Department Work Instruction document controller. Lead RoHS and WEEE product evaluation, engineering change notice implementation and technical construction file library controller. Company liaison to independent product safety testing labs site inspectors. Project Engineer 1996 – 2002 Member of several instrumentation design teams. Designed new products and upgraded older products. Collaborated internal design efforts with external consultant design firm, authored user manuals, prepared parts and assembly prints, bills of materials and production routing packages. Prepared specification packages for independent testing labs. Built prototypes. Participated in designing and building custom automated manufacturing equipment. Specified, installed and programmed PID controllers, robotic arms and conveyor systems. Engineer Technical Coordinator Sept 1990 – 1996 Responsible for engineering maintenance and upgrades to specific product lines, and modifying products to fit special customer needs. Negotiated customer specifications, prepared quotation packages of custom equipment, modified part and assembly prints, sourced custom parts, prepared bills of materials, wrote and edited new user manuals, directed production staff, on-site installation assistance and training of customer staff. Customer on-site multi-level troubleshooting and continuing product support. Designed printed circuit boards, wire harness assemblies, and sheet metal cabinetry for new products.
