Daily Duties at Friends Hospital:

 Conducted psychological assessments and discharge planning for patients entering the admissions department.  Collaborated with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers and registration staff on a variety of issues related to continuity of care.  Supervised psychology doctoral interns and externs about clinical cases, psychological evaluations, professional issues, as well as managerial and administrative matters.  Taught psychology graduate students in both fundamental and advanced group counseling techniques.  Proficiency in the following software applications: Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2007; including E-mail communication packages and Internet research.  Some familiarity with HMS patient management information software. Friends Hospital, June 2010 – September 2010 - Coordinated and directed all administrative, clinical, and financial functions of the Center of Excellence. - Was responsible for communication with the students' training director(s), completing required evaluations, and ensuring the Center of Excellence psychology externship training program meets the educational and safety requirements of all regulatory agencies. - Ensured that the registration and admittance of inpatients and outpatients including clinical and financial records are verified, met hospital and stakeholder standards, and is provided to operating units on a timely basis. - The position directed the activities of employees engaged in the benefits and insurance verification, patient hospital enrollment, and outpatient dispositions processes. - Made strategic and tactical recommendations, as well as implemented appropriate controls for the continued development of the Center of Excellence. - Created a collaborative relationship with the Psychiatric Emergency Department and the Business Office insures that the process of care which uses a multidisciplinary team meets all regulatory and fiscal requirements while maintaining a customer focused approach to service. - Directly supervised the clinical activities and training experience of Center of Excellence Psychology Externship program. - Reduced patient wait-times from averaging 10-12 hours to 6-8 hours when the IRC was a crisis stabilization center. - Initiated then managed the increase of billing completion rates for psychiatric evaluations from 40%-50% to 80%-95%.
