Daily Duties at Military Sealift Command :

Handle cargo and operate small boats during a number of evolutions including Anti-Terrorism Operations and Maritime Interdiction boardings of suspect ships.Team leader and Rig Captain, accountable for performing and supervising ship maintenance activities to support specific missions and replenish stores, fuel, ammunition, and items associated with flight deck operations. Operate and/or maintain various deck equipment including specialized gear; ship’s hull, decks, superstructure, cargo gear, smoke stacks, lifeboats, rescue boats, life rafts, and emergency and damage control gear. Direct or conduct training sessions on damage control operations, fire-fighting, anti-terrorism, Safety of Life at Sea, and immersion (Gumby) suits. Subject Matter Expert in woodworking cuts and joints, small boat repair deck coverings, tools and equipment, metallurgy, cutting and welding, oxyacetylene cutting and welding, braze welding, metal-arc welding and cutting, nondestructive tests and inspection of welds, and structural steel fabrication, shop mathematics, piping systems and repairs, and sewage systems
