Daily Duties at Biomedical Optics Diagnostics Lab, University Of Michigan:

My primary job is to fabricate optical phantoms which show the desired optical parameters of absorption, reflectance and transmittance, as determined by earlier experiments on human tissues. For this, I first fabricate the phantoms in the lab. Then I use the optical apparatuses in the lab to extract raw data about their optical properties. Then I run the raw data through various algorithms to extract useful information from the data. I have also helped with various literature searches and technical writing in the lab.
