Daily Duties at Shands @ Uf:
o Participated in supply chain management for purchasing of reagents, overhead supplies, and blood bank instrumentation. o Presented Blood Bank Department related budget information to prepare monthly, quarterly, yearly, and 5-year budgets with cost-effective analysis for purchasing and accounts payable. o Performed, interpreted, and reported tests profiles related to Blood Bank, and transplant workup procedures and instrument maintenance tasks. o Perform quality control and maintenance requirements for the instruments, refrigerators, reagents, and supplies. Supervised 2 techs and 2 phlebotomists on daily basis for the night shift and early morning staff of about 3 additional techs and 6 phlebotomists. o Maintained quality performance of instrument, quality control/calibration, inventory for blood bank and reagents. o Applied clinical laboratory skills related to chemistry, hematology, blood bank, serology, immunology, histocompatibility, microbiology, and PCR technology. Managed nightshifts operation and maintained turnaround time. o Maintain relations with blood service centers and vendors. o Provided guidance and in-service related to blood band topics such as Antibody Identification, Platelet Antibody, PCR Technology, and Sequencing for the transplant workup, and guidelines to comply Rules and Regulations of CAP, AABB, ASHI, SEOPF, and AHCA.
