Daily Duties at Highland Regional Medical Center :
Filled in at bench for routine, stat, and urgent testing on a daily basis. Performed, interpreted, and reported tests profiles related to Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Serology, and Specimen receiving and processing. o Utilized transformational servant leadership approach to lead students, coworkers, and subordinates through motivation, mentorship, and proactive visionary style. Supervised 30 employees that includes 3 supervisors, 12 technologists, 4 technicians, 7 phlebotomists, and 2 laboratory assistants. Daily supervised 2 techs in Blood Bank, 2 Blood Bank trainee, 2 phlebotomists, early morning staff of about 3 to 5 additional techs and 6 phlebotomists. o Maintained quality performance of instrument, quality control/calibration, inventory for blood bank and reagents. Reviewed daily and monthly work and statistics records for completeness, obvious errors, and for the quality assurance. o Prepared monthly Score Card data for the administration and Risk management/Quality assurance purposes to evaluate Blood Bank product usage and productivity measures for the provided laboratory services. Managed evening shift, night-shifts, and weekend shifts operation with educational coaching approach to develop service excellence of the employees. Identified root cause of problems for the CAP proficiencies issues, quality outcome of the instruments to develop better policies and procedures that improved turned around time and service excellence provided by the laboratory employees. Created strategic scheduled program for the phlebotomists and techs to improve turned around time and overall productivity of the lab. Created monthly staffing schedule to cover all shifts with adequate staffing needs, vacation time, and staffing requirements to fill in the gaps for sick leave or call outs. Implemented policies and procedures to increase productivity, profitability, and quality assurance of the laboratory services. Prepared technical section of Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology for the CAP inspection, accreditation, and licensing process. o Played active role in preparing and conducting CAP inspection for another hospitals. Provided in-service training for the Blood Bank departmental procedures and Policies (especially Antibody identification and trouble shooting) to comply with Rules and Regulations of the AABB and CAP. Massive Transfusion and Trauma Center guidelines.
